1. Mixing — Corn flour (or blend of grains) is thoroughly mixed with water (and optionally other ingredients) in a ribbon or paddle mixer to produce a homogeneous dough.
2. Conveying & Feeding** — The dough is fed via screw conveyor (or elevator) into the extruder.
3. Extrusion & Shaping** — A twin-screw (or single-screw) extruder applies high pressure and temperature to cook, gelatinize starch, and push the dough through a die whose shape determines the final snack form (cones, sticks, curls, etc.). Extrusion also expands the dough as it exits the die, giving puffed/crispy texture.
4. Cutting/Forming (if needed)** — For certain snack shapes (e.g. sticks, strips), an inline cutter or shaping unit may be used immediately after extrusion.
5. Frying or Drying** — The shaped/snapped snacks are then fried in continuous fryers (or baked/dried depending on product type) to remove moisture, create crispness, and achieve the desired texture.
6. Flavoring / Coating** — After frying/drying, the snacks pass into a flavoring (seasoning) drum or coating machine. Flavor may be applied via dry powder, oil-based slurry, or spray coating — depending on recipe. Typical flavors: cheese, chili, BBQ, salt & vinegar, etc.
7. Cooling & Packaging** — Finally, after cooling, crisp snacks are packed via automatic packaging machines, ready for distribution.
