Pet food line primarily uses high-expansion corn flour grains as the base ingredient, enriched with bone meal, meat, protein, vitamins, fiber, and other nutrients. This mixture is processed through a screw extruder, which, through strong extrusion and rapid expansion, produces pet food pellets of various shapes, such as dog food, cat food, and more. In addition, the line can produce floating aquatic feed, including mackerel feed, goldfish feed, shrimp feed, crab feed, bullfrog feed, and more.
The process concludes with a flavor coating, enhancing the taste of the final product, which is then automatically packaged. The pellet size can range from 0.9 mm to 15 mm, accommodating fish of different sizes. With high output and product quality, this production line is the ideal solution for large and medium-sized feed processing plants, aquaculture farms, and the pet food industry.

Mixing
The mixing stage is crucial in pet food production. First, raw materials are weighed according to the recipe and then crushed in a grinder. These ground ingredients are stored temporarily in a storage bin. Once all the ingredients are ready, they are transferred to a blender for thorough mixing.
Extrusion
Extrusion involves high temperature and short-duration heat treatment. This process not only preserves essential nutrients and enhances the digestibility of proteins and starch but also eliminates harmful microorganisms and anti-nutrients. Using various molds (templates), the feed extruder can produce pet food in shapes like round, triangular, flower-shaped, and bone-shaped pellets. Fat is usually added during the conditioning phase to improve the flavor of pet food. Additionally, pigments are often introduced in the extrusion chamber to achieve different colors for the pellets.
Drying
The drying stage reduces the moisture content of the extruded pet food, which has an initial moisture level of 20-30%. After drying, the moisture is reduced to 8-10%, ensuring the product can be stored for a longer period.
Adding Grease
Oil is a vital energy source in pet food, and formulas may include between 2%-40% oil, depending on the pet’s growth requirements. Ideally, the total oil content within the extruder should not exceed 12%, as exceeding this amount can soften the pellets. If more oil is needed (over 12%), it is recommended to add additional oil after drying, using methods like normal-pressure or vacuum spraying. This external application of oil enhances the appearance of the food, making it more appealing. Attractants in powder form can also be sprayed to improve the palatability of the pet food.
Cooling and Screening
The cooling phase brings the dried pet food pellets down to room temperature, removing excess moisture. This process also serves to separate any unqualified pellets from the finished product.
